A dog that was dubbed Britain’s fattest after struggling to fit in a kenner has finally found his forever home.

Big Bopper the Whopper weighed a staggering eight stone when he was taken to Plymouth animal shelter Gambles Farm last year.

But after being put on a strict fitness and diet regime, the chunky canine has managed to shift the weight and find his forever home with a local couple.

During his time at Gables, Bopper lived with deputy manager Ruth Rickard, who had previously cared for - and subsequently re-homed - another overweight pooch known as ‘Hattie the Fattie’.

Since moving in with his new owners, Bopper is said to have settled in well and is enjoying short walks on the nearby moors.
