Devon man dies following diving accident

A man has died following a diving accident off Oddicombe Beach, Torquay, yesterday afternoon.

Two male shore divers were recovered from the water at Babbacombe Bay by people on a boat.

One of the men was unconscious and CPR was performed, he was then taken to Torbay Hospital where he died a short time later.

The second diver was not injured.

Ambulance and HM Coastguard Rescue Team from Torbay attended.

A formal identification is yet to take place but the man's next of kin has been informed.

Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.
