A secondary address is being searched in connection with explosions heard in Worle early this morning.

Police have ruled out terrorism after "loud bangs" in Worle resulted in a bomb squad callout and arrests being made.

Two people were arrested after bangs were heard near The Summerhouse pub in Worle shortly after 4am.

The Army’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was subsequently called and a 100 metre cordon established.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said the cordon has now been lifted but a lane in Appletree Court will remain closed while a nearby property is searched.

The force spokesperson stressed no one has been injured and that there is no on-going risk to the public.
