Race against the tide to rescue horse trapped in Burnham-On-Sea mud
An exhausted horse, who had became trapped in the mud at Burnham-On-Sea, has been rescued in a two hour long mission by emergency services.
It was a race against the tide to free the animal, who'd become stuck in the thick beach mud by the seafront's low lighthouse.
The alert was raised at 10am for two horses and three riders who were not familiar with the dangers of the muddy shoreline.
The riders and one horse was quickly helped to safety but it took more than two hours for Avon Fire and Rescue, the coastguard, the BARB hovercraft team and the RNLI to pull the second animal to safety.
Eventually the horse was helped to its feet, and its much relieved owners were grateful for all of those who helped the operation.
