Cornwall firefighters tackle second gorse fire in two days

Firefighters have tackled another gorse fire in Cornwall which follows a suspected arson attack a day before.

Crews from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called to a blaze on the Lizard Peninsula on Tuesday 26 February.

Three fire engines were at the scene which was close to the main road between The Lizard and Helston.

Firefighters confirmed at around 9pm that the flames had been extinguished.

The latest Gorse fire follows a suspected arson attack on the Lizard Peninsula on Monday.

Crews were sent from Mullion, Falmouth, Tolvaddon, St Keverne and Helston St Dennis, along with two other firefighters.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the cause is believed to be arson and the police are investigating.
