  • Ken Goodwin, Gloucestershire Correspondent, describes meeting the father of Hollie Gazzard from Gloucester who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend five years ago.

Nick Gazzard is almost always smiling.

In the time I've known him, in the five years since his daughter Hollie was brutally murdered, he has always, whatever the depths of his despair, reached deep inside his emotional reserves and found a smile.

And when you look at those pictures of his beautiful daughter you realise where she got her smile from. In almost every shot you see of Hollie, she is beaming.

"The thing I miss the most about Hollie is her smile" says Nick.

"One of the things all her friends say is that when Hollie walked into a room, the room lit up. It was like putting a big light bulb on, because of her smile"

And it's Hollie's smile you see on all the literature and pamphlets for the Hollie Gazzard trust, which Nick runs.

It's about highlighting domestic violence, stalking and coercive control. And helping to prevent it. Something Nick and his family are passionate about.

And yes, as he tells me this he's smiling. Like father, like daughter.
