Drivers in Somerset face delays this week with a section of the A37 closed for repair work.

The A37 is a busy route, with many people using the road to commute into Bristol from the South.

Bath and North East Somerset Council says the work will slow traffic and widen two existing pedestrian refuge islands.

The Council adds that the improvements will "deter vehicles from mounting pavements, creating more pavement space outside the school entrance and a new pedestrian refuge island to serve the bus stops near the junction with Short Lane".

The road will be closed between the junctions with High Street and Church Street (north end) until Sunday (24 Feb), and next week (until 3 March) there will be temporary traffic signals between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the closure.
