‘You’re amazing’: RNAS Yeovilton record surprise Valentine’s Day message for loved ones
Servicemen and women based at the Royal Navy’s Somerset air base in Yeovilton have recorded a special message for their loved ones this Valentine’s.
To mark February 14 in style, romantics in Yeovilton joined forces with RAF Brize Norton and charity SSAFA to record a special rendition of Bruno Mars’ hit song ‘Just The Way You Are’.
The music video features members of the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team, 815 Naval Squadron, 99 Squadron, Royal Air Force firefighters, engineers and other brave recruits who decided to take part.
Acknowledging the thousands of military families living apart, often for weeks and months at a time, SSAFA decided to film the top secret music video in a bid to bring separated loved ones closer together this Valentine’s Day.
Also featured is Sergeant Paul Caufield, Engineering Operations, based at Brize Norton.
Although he will be spending Valentine’s Day with his family this year, he said he wanted to take part to make up for all of the other “special moments” he had missed over the years.
“As childhood sweethearts and me being in the RAF since school, there have been many times I’ve been away from home, four months being the longest,” he added.
“Time can really drag sometimes, and I’ve felt helpless knowing my wife is looking after the entire family at home alone.”
