Exmouth fish and chip shop named the best in the UK

A Devon fish and chip shop has been named the best in the UK.

Krispies Fish and Chips in Exmouth beat nine other finalists to win at the National Fish and Chip Awards.

The award is judged on a business's sustainability credentials, menu innovation, how it caters for special dietary requirements and customer service.

The eight-month judging period also included mystery shop visits and a final presentation to a panel of industry experts.

Krispies is run by Tim and Kelly Barnes.

Tim says the shop has "come so far since we opened 20 years ago, and we can honestly say it is a dream come true to win this award.

Seafish chief executive Marcus Coleman offered "our warmest congratulations to them for what is a truly superb effort".
