Major concern for Cornish yachtsman Robin Davie missing at sea for three days
Concern is growing for the safety of a Cornish sailor who has been missing at sea for three days.
Falmouth Coastguard has issued an urgent ‘All Ships Alert’ for solo yachtsman Robin Davie.
The 67-year-old was due to return to his home port of Falmouth on Tuesday, January 8, following a 300-mile solo cross-Channel voyage from France.
The seasoned sailor, who has previously completed three solo circumnavigations, set out from the French port of Les Sables d’Olonne on Saturday, January 5.
He told his brother, Rick Davie, to expect him back on Tuesday, January 8 - but nothing has been heard from him since.
Davie was reported overdue on the morning of Wednesday, January 9, and the Coastguard have been broadcasting alerts to all ships in the area ever since.
Weather conditions have been light and variable for the past week while Davie’s yacht, a Rustler 36 C’EST La VIE, had recently undergone a complete refit - including a new mast and rigging.
Born in 1951 in St Agnes, Cornwall, Davie served in the British Merchant Navy for 20 years and has competed in several high-profile sailing events.
