Rolls-Royce has announced plans to develop the world's fastest electric plane at a hangar bay at Gloucestershire Airport.

A team of engineers, designers and data specialists will make a new zero-emission plane which they hope will reach speeds of more than 300 miles per hour, making it the fastest electric plane in the world.

The project is part of Rolls Royce's ACCEL initiative, partly funded by the government, which aims to support the electrification of the aviation industry.

The plane is scheduled to make it's first flight in 2020.
