A campaign to have a statue of former Plymouth MP Nancy Astor in the city has raised almost £50,000.

Lady Astor was the first woman to take her seat in Parliament in 1919.

She served as MP for Plymouth Sutton, fighting for the rights and safety of women and children, education, the people of the city, and equality throughout that time.

The target for the project is £120,000.

The deadline has now been extended until the end of January.
