Rail strike and level crossing failures affect travel in the West Country
Strike action by staff at South Western Railway
There is a severely reduced service on South Western Railway due to strike action today, Thursday 27 December.
Trains are expected to run on most main routes but some areas are more disrupted than others. No South Western Railway trains are running to or from Bristol Temple Meads and replacement buses are in operation at Exeter.
There will also be strike action affecting South Western Railway on New Year's Eve, Monday 31 December
Level crossing problems in Somerset - Trains
Trains are having to be guided past the level crossings at Bradford on Tone, Victory and Athelney due to power failures.
There are delays of up to 15 minutes on CrossCountry and Great Western Railway services between Taunton and Exeter St Davids.

ALLERFORDAllerford Road closed near Allerford Inn due to a level crossing failure at Victory Level Crossing.
BRADFORD ON TONEEast Nynehead Road in Bradford on Tone is closed due to level crossing failure at Trefusis Level Crossing.
STOKE ST GREGORYSlough Lane is closed in both directions due to level crossing failure at the level crossing. It is affecting traffic between Stoke St Gregory and Burrowbridge.
There is also disruption on the railways due to major engineering works over the Christmas period.
