Star Wars statue appears not so far away next to the A38

The statue cost £12,000 to make

A replica Scout Walker from the Star Wars films has appeared next to the A38 near Ashburton.

Dean Harvey spent 400 hours making the 4.5m high statue for his daughters and has now donated it to land owner Paul Parker.

The hope was the £12,000 figure would attract visitors to the area and become an iconic symbol.

Teignbridge Council has now told Dean he has no planning permission so has three weeks to remove it - or apply for retrospective permission - before they take further action.

Paul hopes, after meeting with an architect to draw up plans, members of the committee might be in favour of the AT-ST.
