'I just needed to push': Mum gives birth by M5 motorway
A mother who gave birth beside the M5 motorway has been re-united with the ambulance staff who helped her.
Leanne Parrett, 31, from Yate was on her way to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital when she went into the final stages of labour. Leanne's husband, Sam, pulled into a layby near Thornbury and called 999.
Leanne said, “I was squatting in the back seat and I just needed to push".
During the 999 call you can hear the moment baby Sebastien was born weighing a healthy 8lb 12oz.
Leanne said, "The call handler was amazing and stayed on the phone with Sam the whole time until the ambulance arrived. They made sure Sam knew what to do immediately following the arrival of Sebastian!”
One of the ambulance staff who arrived at the scene to help, described it as one of the best jobs she'd ever been to.
