Large fire breaks out at Torquay harbour
A large fire broke out near Torquay harbour this morning (Monday 29 October).
Eight fire engines were on the scene according to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service.
A spokesperson said the fire ripped through the roof of a building just behind Victoria Parade.
It started in a three storey commercial building and spread from the first to the second floor.
Victoria Parade was closed in both directions.
Living Coasts, a zoo and aquarium also on the harbour, were concerned about the welfare of animals while heavy smoke was drifting in their direction.
They have since confirmed that this eased and both the animals and business were not affected by the fire.
