A petition has been launched to reinstate a police station in Bath.

The station was closed in 2015 and an enquiry desk for local people was set up inside Bath and North East Somerset Council's One Stop Shop in Manvers Street.

But the city's MP Wera Hobhouse has launched a petition after it was announced that this would be closed at weekends and have it's opening hours reduced by 20 hours during the week.

It was previously open 7 days a week from 8am-8pm, but is now open 10-6pm on weekdays only.

The petition is also supported by Liberal Democrat Council Group Leader, Dine Romero.

She says: "Bath residents attach huge importance to having a visible police station in the city centre. There is a perception that the city is less safe than previously and that more people are falling victim to crimes."
