A man from Cheltenham who nearly died after drinking more than 2 litres of vodka a day is warning others of the dangers of giving in to peer pressure to drink.

Brian Taylor lost 6 pints of blood, and needed an operation because of the damage alcohol did to his body.

His warning comes as it's revealed more than three quarters of people here in the South West have experienced bullying to drink alcohol.

It's the number one reason people drink more according to a pilot study by One Year No Beer and Stirling University.

The research also found that more men felt coerced by their family to drink in this region than anywhere else in the UK.

Women here also feel more pressure to have a drink by their partner than men do.

The NHS advice for anyone struggling with how much alcohol they consume is to start is with their GP.
