People are being warned to stay away from the edge of the Jurassic Coast following the change in weather.

Experts say the chance of rockfalls increases when rain follows a long period of hot and dry weather. Tonnes of rocks have fallen off the landmark's cliff face around this period over the last two years.

People going to coast are being advised to keep away from the base of the cliffs.

Dorset County Concil's top safety tips:

  • Stay away from the edge of the cliff top – admire the view from a safe distance

  • Stay away from the base of cliffs: rock falls and landslides can happen at any time. If you are under a rock fall, the likelihood is you will die

  • Pay attention to warning signs – they are there for your safety

  • Check tide times before you set off to avoid being cut off by incoming tides
