Widow describes the extremes of life as gangster John Palmer's wife
The widow of the man who was once Britain's richest criminal has spoken for the first time about their life, wealth and the dangerous side of her violent husband.
John Palmer was born in Birmingham before moving to Bath. He got the nickname 'Goldfinger' after using a homemade smelter in his garden to process bullion from what was then Britain's biggest heist - Brink's Mat - though he always denied knowing the gold was from the robbery and was cleared of involvement by a court.
But Palmer was later jailed after defrauding thousands of people in a timeshare scam and was murdered by a mystery gunman three years ago.
Today his widow Marnie lives near Bath, but says the money has gone after he was made bankrupt.
The Brink's Mat raid saw million of pounds worth of bullion stolen from a warehouse near Heathrow Airport.
Marnie Palmer says both she and her husband had no idea that the gold in their garden was from this heist.
John Palmer's Tenerife timeshare fraud made him millions of pounds. Police believe 17,000 people lost money to him.
He also had a darker side at home, developing a cocaine problem and becoming violent behind closed doors.
Palmer served four years in prison and was served with one of the biggest bankruptcy orders in history.
Marnie Palmer has released a book detailing their marriage as well as her transition to a retirement of gardening and fly-fishing.
