Father of footballer who died in freak accident on the pitch writes book in his memory
The father of an amateur footballer from Bristol who died in a freak accident whilst playing for his local team, has written a book in his memory.
Clive Hiscox's son, Ben, suffered a serious head injury when he slid off the pitch into the nearby clubhouse wall three years ago.
Ben Hiscox was Stoke Gifford FC's top goal scorer from the previous season and was just 30 when he lost his life.
His family have worked with the club, raising enough money to make the pitch safer and ensure such a tragedy is never repeated.
Despite their work, Clive says what happened there left him feeling helpless and writing the book was a form of therapy for him.
He hopes that it could become a lifeline for someone else who might have experienced similar sudden loss and is looking for comfort and support.
