Lockdown at Torbay Hospital
Torbay hospital was in lockdown earlier this evening, Tuesday 22 March, following a police incident.
Armed police came onto the site on Lowes Bridge at around 6 o'clock. A hospital spokesperson told ITV News that it was as a precaution in response to a threat being made against the hospital.
At one point no one was allowed in or out of the building and later only three entrances - the main entrance, the entrance to A & E and one other - were in operation.
The alert was stood down at 8.45 pm and the hospital is operating as normal.
