Jailed Royal Marine thanks supporters following his release
A Royal Marine from Taunton who was jailed for killing a wounded Afghan fighter has thanked his supporters following his release from prison earlier this year.
Sergeant Alexander Blackman described the incident as "a moment of madness".
He issued a statement over Christmas to thank those who stood beside him during the past four years.
Blackman was released in Aprilfollowing an appeal.
In a joint statement released with his wife, Blackman says the couple are "raising a glass" to their supporters.
“Without your support we might be spending another Christmas apart, so we cannot thank you enough.”
