Weston-super-Mare’s railway station has been awarded Grade II listed status by Historic England.

The station joins other listed town centre buildings such as the Town Hall, the Grand Pier and the Royal Hotel.

Historic England awarded the listed status as part of a programme supporting the regeneration of the town’s centre.

The station was completed in 1884.

Deborah Williams from Historic England says listing "doesn’t prevent change".
