Proposals to lower the voting age to 16 are being debated in Parliament today.

The move is supported by Bristol MP Kerry McCarthy and Plymouth Sutton and Devonport MP Luke Pollard.

If the decision to reform the voting age is passed, 1.5million more people would become eligible to vote.

It is thought that changes to the voting age in Scotland could help the argument to change the limit in England.

16-year-olds in Scotland were given the vote for local and Scottish elections two years ago.
