Video of Devon girl's burns from fireworks released by her mother to warn others of dangers
The mother of a four-year-old girl from Devon, who suffered serious burns after a firework exploded in her face, has released harrowing video footage of the incident as a warning to other parents in the run-up to Bonfire Night.
Stephanie Roe who lives near Combe Martin, was enjoying a small display at home with her family when a firework suddenly flew sideways instead of upwards, landing on her daughter's face.
The firework got suck in the Maisie's scarf, before exploding, leading to her having to endure many operations at Bristol Children's Hospital.
Warning: some viewers may find the images in this video distressing:
The family are now encouraging others to share Maisie's story online and spread the message in the hopes that people would rather go to organised fireworks events.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are also advising people not to have their own displays at home, but enjoy organised displays where safety standards are very high.
