Final preparations are underway for this year's Bridgwater Carnival.

The event takes place on Saturday with daytime events before the procession sets off at 7pm.

Organisers say the 2017 Carnival is set to be the biggest yet with 100 entries.

Bridgwater Carnival marks the start of the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnivals circuit.

This is the biggest circuit in the south west.

As well as Bridgwater, the circuit features a number of other destinations before it ends in Glastonbury.

You can find a list of Guy Fawkes carnival destinations here.

Included amongst this year's Bridgwater entries are more than 50 carts which will be illuminated with rows of electric lighting.

Organisers say some of the carts will be 100ft long with more than 20,000 lights on board.

The procession features different types of carts.

Some clubs create 'feature' carts with lots of moving parts and people dancing.

Others enter the 'Tableau' category with a static show made up of people frozen in positions.

As well as the big, illuminated carts, there are also walking and individual entries.

All of the categories are eligible for awards with an overall circuit awards night held after the Glastonbury event.

As well as the procession, there will be a range of music and dance acts performing on stages across Bridgwater. You can find the full lineup here.

There will also be stalls and other entertainment.

People who cannot attend the carnival in person will be able to live stream the event online via the Carnival website.
