Somerset trampolinist bounces back after injury

A Somerset woman will be competing at the World Trampoline Championships in Bulgaria later this month after making a remarkable comeback.

Laura Gallagher from Bridgwater had to give up the sport for a year due to injury. She was a full time lottery funded athlete for four years, but a number of serious injuries affected her confidence.

It resulted in her losing her funding and questioning whether she even wanted to be involved in the sport.

But she's managed to overcome huge setbacks to become British Champion, and book her place at the World Championships in Bulgaria.

She's studying for a Open University degree as well as working as a Teaching Assistant for young people who aren't in mainstream education.

Now her life doesn't just revolve around sport and she says she's a lot happier.

Laura is hoping the World Championships will produce plenty of other sporting clichés, and flying high is just one of them.
