Cornish handmade quilts gifted to Grenfell Tower survivors

Survivors of London's Grenfell Tower fire are being given handmade quilts from people across the West Country.

A group of 600 quilters were touched by the plight of families who lost loved ones and their homes in the fire back in June.

Described as 'gestures of love', this week some of the quilts are being handed out by the organisation Cornwall Hugs Grenfell.

A network of 600 quilters from Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset have spent more than 150 hours hand stitching these creations. Credit: ITV West Country

By the end of this year Cornwall Hugs Grenfell will have provided 200 tower survivors and firefighters with free Cornish holidays, generously donated by local businesses.

It's now bidding for a £25,000 Aviva Community Fund, but it needs votes.

If it wins, 400 more Grenfell tower families just like Masda's, might be able to come to Cornwall for time to heal.
