Man dies after car enters river in Devon

A man has died after his car entered a river in Devon.

Police, coastguard and firefighters were involved in an operation to try and save the man whose car entered the river Lemon in Newton Abbott.

Police say they received reports of the incident at around 6.20am.

Officers attended the scene along with fire services and paramedics.

Although the man was recovered from the vehicle and transferred to Torbay Hospital police say he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

His death is not believed to be suspicious.
