A classic television series filmed in the West Country has been released on DVD for the first time.

Shoestring features private detective Eddie Shoestring (played by Trevor Eve), who presents his own show on Radio West, a local station.

Filming for Eddie's scenes at Radio West took place in an actual Bristol station of the same name located at the Watershed.

The real Radio West is now Heart West Country.

Shoestring filmed all around Bristol and other parts of the West Country.

The show spawned a big following in the South West because of its use of recognisable backdrops.

Outside of Bristol landmarks such as Weston-super-Mare's Birnbeck Pier and Grand Pier were used.

There is even a website dedicated to locations used for filming the show.

The show's opening sequence will bring back memories for many people:

Shoestring attracted viewing figures of around 20 million but only lasted for two series.

The show ended because Eve wanted to pursue a career in theatre.

Now the complete series is now out on DVD for the first time.
