Murder investigation underway after flat fire

A murder investigation is underway after a man died in Lawrence Weston on Friday.

Fire crews were called to a flat fire in Oakhanger Drive at around 11:40pm, where they found the body of a man inside the property.

However a post mortem concluded that the man, thought to be in his 40s, had died from multiple blows to the head.

Forensic teams cordoned off the road on Saturday while they searched the scene.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
