Torquay hosts UKIP party conference
A blog from our Political Correspondent David Wood
Another day, another seaside resort and another party conference, but while all parties are having their internal struggles - for UKIP simply surviving is their goal.
Across the West Country UKIP only fielded candidates in around half of the seats in June's election and didn't manage to win or even come second in any of them!
The party's leadership is confident they know why voters turned their backs on the party and believe they're already flooding back.
The party's interim leader, and North Devon candidate, Steve Crowther has told me that UKIP supporters believed they had to vote for Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn in June to ensure that Brexit would happen, as both parties were promising an exit from the EU.
Yet UKIP is now convinced it has a future as people are already getting fed up of the way Brexit negotiations are going, Mr Crowther (who will be replaced as leader this evening) says the party is already experiencing a 'bounce'
This lunchtime the party is voting on its new look. The pound sign we've seen in the UKIP logo of recent years will be replaced by a Lion or an image that looks like to sails.
There is a real effort here to enthuse members and cling on to the title of a major political party in the UK, the leader will be their fifth in a year so it'll be a difficult enough of a challenge simply being recognised.
