McDonald's in Fishponds moves one step closer
The introduction of a two-storey McDonald's in Fishponds, Bristol is edging closer.
The American fast food giant has now submitted plans to demolish the warehouse at the site they intend to build on.
Local campaigners have been running a ‘No McDonalds in Fishponds’ campaign to try and prevent the factory's demolition.
The plan to bring McDonalds to Fishponds has been approved.
The original application for the 150 seat restaurant was rejected in February 2015 due to concerns about its impact on traffic and its proximity to a nearby school.
However, McDonald's subsequently appealed the decision leading to a 6 day public inquiry in May this year.
Following this, the application was approved by the Government's Planning Inspector.
The demolition process is going to involve the removal of asbestos and will take 10 weeks to complete.
McDonalds say that the new Fishponds restaurant will bring 75 full and part-time jobs.
