Woman uses giant banner for wedding proposal in Cornwall

The banner, which read "Lee Marry Me," could be seen flying high above St Michael's Mount

The sign "Lee marry me" could be seen for miles across Marazion as a woman proposed to her partner on Sunday afternoon.

Romantic Tami Gwennap asked her boyfriend Lee Gribble go for a walk on the beach with their three children

Lee, from Penzance, spotted the banner - but initially he had no idea it was meant for him.

He said: "I did not expect it at all. We were walking on Marazion beach with the children and she said look up there and then once I'd noticed she said 'well, will you?'"

"I had no idea that it was meant for me, we then headed back to the Station House where our families were waiting with champagne - it was so well done."

Tami says: "It was a perfect day to do it.

"We got together five years ago on that day and it was perfect that it was a Sunday - a family day.

"We weren't sure if it would go ahead as the weather wasn't great in the morning, but luckily it brightened up.

"I wanted to do something different than just getting down on one knee, I really wanted to shock him.

"I was going to propose back in February on the leap day, but I decided to spend some more time planning it."
