The Manager of a Devon vintage bus service claims he has been forced to shut it down due to abuse his drivers have received from pensioners.

Derek Gawn says retirement flat residents were unhappy at noise and fumes produced by his vehicles.

Jurassic Mule has been running open top summer tours around the Colyton Seaton area in East Devon since 2015.

Mr Gawn who is 64 says the tour has been withdrawn because of hostility towards staff "from a small minority of local residents".

One resident says the fumes from the buses interfered with their everyday life.

Other residents who live along the bus route have also complained about the fumes as well as the amount of noise made by the buses.

Mr Gawn says the vintage vehicles used by the bus service can produce smoke but have passed all necessary tests.

Although unpopular with some locals, the service has attracted around 20,000 tourists a year.

Mr Gawn says the welfare of staff has influenced his decision to end the service.
