University of Bath student selected for 2018 Commonwealth Games
A sports student at the University of Bath has become the institution's first official 2018 Commonwealth Games pick.
Cameron Chalmers will take part in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, representing his native Guernsey.
Chalmers will be supported by a Thompson Education Trust Scholarship in the 400m race, taking place in April.
Coached by James Hillier at the Sports Training Village, Chalmers helped the Great Britain team win 4x400m relay gold at the European U23 Championships and was selected for the London 2017 IAAF World Championships.
He has also beaten a 17-year-old national record by winning the fourth successive BUCS [British Universities & Colleges Sport] 400m title – two indoor, two outdoor – for the University of Bath.
