Hospice arranges horse visit for patient
Nurses at a hospice in Barnstaple helped make the final days of a patient's life very special - by arranging a visit from a horse.
Patrick had been around the animals all his life and wanted one final meeting.
Staff at North Devon Hospice arranged for a stallion to be brought over and Patrick was wheeled out to feed and stroke him.
North Devon Hospice says Patrick had worked with horses all his life and talked to nurses regularly about his experiences.
The hospice says nurses arranged for Victor the horse to be brought from a nearby equine rescue centre.
Patrick died just a few days after the visit.
His daughter said meeting the horse meant a lot to her father, and was an experience she will never forget.
