The Fun Park on Exmouth's esplanade is closing today for what could be the final time.
East Devon District Council, which owns the land, has not offered to renew the owner's lease, choosing instead to clear the area for redevelopment.
The Fun Park has existed on the site for more than 70 years, spending several decades in the ownership of Chris Wright's family.
He described it as "a very sad day":
The Save Exmouth Seafront campaign group were also setting up a wall where people could leave their tributes.
Messages and flowers were left on the site from people from all across the country who have enjoyed the park.
Some were families of several generations...
There is also a concern that the closure of the Fun Park is part of a wider re-development of Exmouth Seafront.
It is to make way for developers who hope to build a water sports centre.

The park may have a small chance at staying open for a little longer.
An emergency council meeting will be held on the 13th of September, where the issue of a reprieve will be discussed.
