A Devon and Cornwall police officer says he does "regret" posting a video of his car travelling at 140mph en route to a 999 call out.

Sgt Harry Tangye, who won Best Police Twitter 2016, released a statement on his blog after he was bombarded with messages on social media.

Many of the 200 comments below the officer's tweet questioned his speed.

Sgt Tangye responded that training and experienced meant it was justified.

The responses were so prolific though that the police sergeant felt it was necessary to explain his decision on his blog. Alongside the disparaging comments however, were messages of support for the police officer.
