Man charged with drink-driving as Ilchester market cross repairs set to cost thousands
A man has been charged with drink-driving after a car hit a monument in the Somerset village of Ilchester.
The Ilchester market cross toppled over, smashing into pieces, after it was hit in the early hours of Friday, 4 August.
The Grade II listed monument was erected over 200 years ago, and officials now say the repairs will be challenging and will cost thousands of pounds.
