Man dies in fire in Fishponds area of Bristol

A man has died and a woman is in critical condition following a fire at a flat in the Fishponds area of Bristol. Moshin Alyas took this footage of the blaze.

The fire broke out at around 8:40pm on Saturday 5 August in a row of flats above shops on Fishponds Road.

Police say the man and woman were pulled out of the flat and received treatment but the man died at the scene. The woman was taken to hospital with life threatening burns.

The Fire Brigade has said that the cause of the fire was accidental.

The following day ITV West Country cameras captured the damage to the flat. A woman remains in hospital in a serious condition.
