Weather blog: School holidays get off to a stormy start
Weather blog by Kate Haskell.
The words "yellow warning for heavy rain and strong winds" are not what we want to hear as the children break up from school and some of us head off on our summer getaway.
We want to hear, "sunshine" and maybe even "heatwave!"
For now though we have to put up with the wind & rain with fingers crossed for the other bits.
Heavy rain today will create tricky driving conditions with a lot of surface water on the roads. Over an inch of rain could fall for some areas which will not help those trying to clear up from flooding earlier in the week. Fallen trees around the region have already reported and more are likely.
More thundery showers are on the way tomorrow but after that things do calm down a touch with some nice sunshine and warmer temperatures expected for Monday.... something to look forward to!
