Alcohol crackdown as teenagers head to Newquay for summer season

Exams are over, the sun is out and hundreds of 16 and 17 year olds have descended on Newquay for the start of the summer holidays.

For some the fun is stopping short though, as Devon and Cornwall police officers are searching holidaymakers' bedrooms and confiscating alcohol from those who are underage.

Inspector Dave Meredith took to Twitter to show the stash of booze he had collected from one room, seven bottles of vodka. He also had a stark warning for parents: "don't send your kids here with alcohol!"
