Bristol City have broken their transfer record to sign Senegalese striker Famara Diedhiou from French side Angers for £5.3m.
The deal is significantly more than the £3.25m paid for Jonathan Kodjia in 2015 who ironically signed from the same Ligue 1 club.
Diedhiou has signed a 4 year contract.
Diédhiou began his career at French club ASM Belfort and then Epinal.
His stand out season came in 2015 when on loan at Clermont. Diedhiou scoring 22 times in 37 appearances during to land the Ligue 2 golden boot and Player of the Year awards. That success saw Angers sign the young striker for £1.36m.
Diédhiou’s first season in Ligue 1 saw him score nine times in 36 appearances, he has also made six appearances for Senegal, scoring once.
