Firefighters tackle blaze at recycling centre

Fourteen fire crews from across Cornwall battled a blaze at a recycling centre overnight.

Firefighters were called to Wilson Way in Pool at 7.21pm on Saturday when initially three engines were used to tackle a fire in a large warehouse used to store plastics.

Later, a further eight fire engines were called to the scene as well as an an aerial ladder platform, Incident Command Support, breathing apparatus support, welfare unit and a water carrier.

By 10pm 14 fire resources were at the incident and local residents were being advised to keep their doors and windows closed.

Crews had gained control over the fire by the early hours of Sunday morning and left the scene at 4.30am.
