Watchdog probes police action before death of Falmouth man

The police watchdog is asking for witnesses as it investigates police contact with a man before his death.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Langton Road in Falmouth at around 9pm on Tuesday 23 May following reports of a man with a knife.

Initial accounts indicate 30 year old Marc Cole had caused himself harm and he was taken to hospital where he subsequently died.

During the incident, a Taser was discharged.

A post-mortem examination carried out last week was inconclusive, and further tests will be carried out.

IPCC investigators have begun carrying out house to house enquiries and gathering witness statements.
