A teenager who died after taking what's believed to be the drug MDMA has been named as Luke Campbell-Tapson.

The 16 year old from South Molton is thought to have taken the drug at a youth disco in Ilfracombe. He was admitted to North Devon District Hospital on Friday night - but died in the early hours of Saturday.

Police say the exact cause of death is unknown.

Two other people were also admitted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth over the weekend after taking a recreational drug at a house party on Friday night; both remain in hospital and one in a serious condition.

Police believe that all three had taken what they thought to have been MDMA tablets.

"At this time there is no evidence to link the Ilfracombe and Plymouth incidents, or if there is a particular tainted batch of recreational drugs in circulation."
