Son recreates father's epic journey
The moment Sir Francis Chichester became the first man to sail single handedly around the world has been recreated by his son in Plymouth.
Giles Chichester paid tribute to his father's pioneering spirit and says he is enormously proud of him.
Sir Francis Chichester completed his single-handed sailing trip around the world 50 years ago today. Giles recreated the return today by arriving into the city on his father's original yacht, Gypsy Moth IV. There was also a flypast by Tiger Moths and a Gypsy Moth plane in recognition of his aviation achievements too.
