Drivers stopped with a handgun in Swindon
Police who stopped a motorist in Swindon they believed was carrying drugs were surprised to also discover a handgun in the car.
On Wednesday 12 April Wiltshire officers pulled over a grey Mini on Cricklade Road. The driver was initially detained under the Misuse of Drugs Act but then, during a search of the car, a handgun was discovered under the driver's seat wrapped in a drawstring bag along with a magazine and two blank rounds
At first, detectives thought the gun could only fire blanks, on further inspection though, it had been modified to fire a live round.
Nicardo Stewart, 32, from Blackford Street in Birmingham, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm Swindon Crown Court. He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced in September.
